In partnership with the WFP, The Afghanistan Social Improvement Organization (ASIO) has been at the forefront of climate change mitigation efforts in the northern region of Afghanistan. Through strategic watershed creation and tree planting initiatives, ASIO actively contributes to environmental resilience and sustainable development.
ASIO’s IFS project supports female beneficiaries by providing 15-layer chickens, a goat with a kid, vegetable seeds, a plastic tunnel for off-season agriculture, and vermicompost materials. This system integrates crops with livestock and poultry, recycling waste to reduce costs and improve soil health. Beneficiaries also receive training on integrated agriculture and market linkages, enhancing their skills and economic opportunities.
ASIO is dedicated to providing swift and effective disaster management services. We respond to emergencies by coordinating with funding agencies, local authorities and NGOs, delivering essential food and hot meals to affected individuals. Our efforts include managing joint distribution activities, providing warehouse facilities, and ensuring resources reach the most vulnerable populations. Through these initiatives, ASIO fosters resilience and supports communities in the face of disasters.
